You are ...
You are a man, a woman, an expat in an NGO or
working for the private sector, a student, a retired man or woman,
a home dad or a business woman, a couple or a ahtlete and ...
- You have a challenge to face in your professional
life: a job evolution that raises many questions
in your personal and professional life, a complex re-organization,
a conflict management issue, a project that refuses to move
forward!...
- You are in need of a solution to a problem: stress
management, approaching an unforeseen life change, finding
work after a long period of unemployment, finding a balance
between personal and professional lives, gaining confidence
in a particular area, making a long overdue choice …
- You would like to learn more or become more productive
: you like your life and you want more ! Exploit your
full potential, become more productive in a certain area (sport,
music, technical area, art, savoir être, social actions...),
finally live an old dream ...
- In theory, everything is going well, and still, you
are not satisfied. Should your life/work continue
on the same path or is it time to find a path that corresponds
you better ? ...
What coaching can offer you ......
The coach can help you make a transition with
empathy and no compliance! He looks to the future, very rarely backwards
towards the past (in contrast to many therapies).
Tangibly:
At each step, you will 1) consciously recognize the problem as a whole/your
desire/the project you want to carry forward, 2) elaborate an action plan,
3) identify your resources to counter your obstacles 4) move forward in a
concrete and measurable manner and 5) evaluate the results.
At each step, I will offer you the best conditions allowing reflexion and
progress, while accompanying you beyond your fears, your doubts. I will help
to tap into your creativity, and increase your performance, while remaining
respectful of your availability and energy. To do all of this, we will be
very attentive to your environment, what you do in it, what you believe,
what is important to you and most of all, who you really are.
Coaching is not consulting !
Because 1) only 20% of others people’s advice is used and 2) the solution
that you find for your problem is always better adapted than somebody else's
one. That is only if you are sure that everything (issues and options) has
been looked into and considered … and that is my added value !
Who am I...
After studies in industrial production and a
diploma in logistics and humanitarian aid management (IFAID Aquitaine),
I worked for 15 years for emergency and development aid actions.
During this period, I coordinated projects of all types, in areas all around
the world. After much travelling, I felt the need to settle down in Europe,
while still maintaining a close link with my original field: bringing people
to their very best, for themselves.
I came to the realization that in Europe, the best way to utilize my experience
was to allow people to benefit from it, via coaching. I take pride in remaining:
- Open to every projects, even the most daring and « strange » ones,
- A great listener,
- Sensitive to different cultural and religious beliefs,
- Interested in the other person, believing naturally and foremost in his/her
potential and success.
In order to achieve this, I followed a coaching training through Coaching
Ways, a school recognized by the International Coaching Federation.
I now work mainly as a coach, but also as a trainer in « capacity development ».
I also keep in close contact with the field of Humanitarian Aid (see below
Coaching and Humanitarian Aid).
Some practical aspects...
During an initial appointment, we will examine the problem that you bring
forward and clearly define the working framework: mutual commitment, confidentiality,
schedule...
Coaching sessions will begin,
lasting between 1 to 2 hours, depending on the need. The first phase
of the coaching will consist in defining and bordering your objective.
The final phase will consist in its implementation.
The total duration of a coaching
is most often between 5 to 10 sessions of one to two hours, depending
on the complexity of the problem to be solved. These sessions will
be close in at the beginning and then will be spaced out.
It is possible to carry out coaching
sessions by phone or via Skype (with video), namely for expats. (I
have coached people based in Tokyo and in Bujumbura in Burundi).
Coaching in humanitarian aid
I have been working in emergency and development
humanitarian aid since 1993 and in particular for Médecins Sans
Frontières for the last 10 years.
Coaching and expatriates - Even though my
scope of action is large, I have a natural ease for expatriate
coaching as I know well the difficulties linked with this
style of life: distance from own country, intercultural confrontations,
unstable social life, feeble comprehension from non-expatriates...
For humanitarians - For them, is added the
difficulty of having social and professional lives closely
intertwined, harsh living conditions, as well as a very limited
vision of their future medium and long term. Their responsibilities
are often superior to those they would have at home. All this,
in addition to the usual stress linked to a job to be performed
in the midst of difficult contexts.
What type of coaching for these people ? The
video conference (Skype etc...) allows an efficient coaching
with people at a distance. This coaching allows the coachee
to take a step back, to learn quicker, to avoid getting bogged
down by difficulties, to avoid burn-outs and destructive disillusionments,
to increase their performance ... In short, to allow that they
can blossom and want to stay in their job, avoiding frequent
rotations which create negative impact on both them and their
structures.
Always a foot in the humanitarian aid ...
I remain available for short stays abroad (2 or 3 weeks) in
the scope of emergency missions, missions of evaluation, of
conflict resolution or coaching of staff or teams.
